NetSAP DC – 2011 Year in Review!

NetSAP DC had a tremendous year in 2011 with various events surrounding NetIP’s 4 main pillars: Political, Community Service, Professional Development, and Cultural.

With over 6000 community reach and a board of nearly 20 individuals, NetSAP DC was able to execute a number of meaningful events for its 300 official members and Greater Washington Area community members.

An example of some of our amazing events included:

  • NetSAP DC’s partnership with the Indian Embassy for a concert featuring The Parikama Band, a famous Rock ‘n Roll Band from New Delhi; there was an audience of over 200 people.
  • The 11th annual SALTAF (South Asian Literary and Theatre Arts Festival) in partnership with the Smithsonian Institution. This is our flagship event in which prominent South Asian authors and performers from around the world come to discuss their published books and personal experiences.
  • A Resume Building Workshop in partnership with Kaplan and Aerotek,
  • The Asian Heritage Month Professional Panel event, in partnership with Deloitte Consulting, where prominent leaders from all sectors including non-profit, private, and government spoke about their personal experiences and challenges they faced  to reach to their C-suite level positions. There were over 100 people at this panel event.
  • NetSAP DC participates in Serv-A-Thon and Ghandi’s Be the Change National Day of Service annually.

NetSAP DC received many awards thanks to its dedication to the community, including the Mayor’s Community Service Award of 2011 and also 3 Boscars at the annual NetIP Conference held in Washington, DC.
