NetIP recognizes Sonia Kotecha

NetIP-North America is esteemed to congratulate Sonia Kotecha, Recipient of the Activist of the Year Award by the Capital Area Asian American Democrats.

As NetIP-Austin President, Sonia has exhibited unwavering dedication and passion for making an impact as a leader.  In just one year, she has established the brand-new Austin chapter as a sustainable and recognizable brand in the community.  Her leadership was applauded across North America when the chapter was honored with the 2010 Boscars for NetIP Best Small Chapter and Best President.

As a fellow board member states, “Altruism comes naturally to Sonia.  She is always thinking of ways to give back to the community and determining how NetIP Austin can be a vehicle through which these endeavors can be accomplished.”

In addition to NetIP Austin, Sonia is constantly active with the local community, including the national Be the Change Day.  Over the past two years, Sonia’s contributions to Be the Change have resulted in tremendous growth in the number of volunteers and in turn, SAALT recognizing Austin as one of the core cities for the annual event.   Her efforts have been consistently featured in local media as an impactful and community leader.

NetIP-North America is honored to congratulate Sonia Kotecha on this immense achievement!

This event was broadcasted on our local radio station and we had an increase in membership after this event. We have been asked by members about a Part 2 event that includes recruiters.”
-Riya Bhattacharya, President, NetIP Dallas

The philosophy discussion group has added a new demographic to NetIP. Several people previously uninterested in NetIP discovered a niche in which they could feel comfortable. Furthermore, through their friendships, these people have found a route into active NetIP membership. The group has consequently benefited in activity and diversity from new members. In the more general community, our image has shifted- now people realize that there is a philosophical element to NetIP, increasing the respect we garner. This perception mirrors a reality, as the philosophical discussions carry over into our daily lives and into other NetIP events.”
- Pawan Monocha, President, NetIP St Louis
“NetIP St Louis is thankful that NetIP has recognized the important place of philosophy in our cultural milieu. The philosophy discussion group for which it was awarded shows that serious inquiry into fundamental questions not only can survive in our society- it can thrive. Be desi, our friends.”

NetIP award for Outstanding Service, dedication & vision: Sundip Arora

NetIP is an organization run entirely by volunteers.

The human connection is what brings our volunteers together.

That, and a chance to make a difference in our community.

A volunteer organization tests the limits of leadership and skill.

How do you get results from a volunteer without a payroll involved?

How do you inspire them, encourage and cajole them, into putting in that last bit of effort?

We were deeply privileged to recognize someone that has been an inspiration to us all.

Someone that has re-defined leadership and has done so with class, respect and has set an example for all of us to follow.

In both strength of character and unwaivering ethics, he IS the new standard of what leadership in our 20th year is.

It is our absolute honor to present The NetIP award for Outstanding Service, dedication and vision to our president.

Sundip Arora.
