NetIP Announces July & August Event of the Month Winners!

Congratulations to the July & August Event of the Month Winners!

NetIP-NY’s 2nd Annual Community Service Day, held on July 25th,  provided members with the unique opportunity to give back to the NY community through four different charities – Keen new York, Riverside Park Fund, CRY, and Ronald McDonald House. Following the various volunteer activities, the day concluded with a Volunteer Appreciation Cocktail Hour, which featured a bone marrow drive with SAMAR.  The event was highly successful, attracting over 60 participants. NetIP-NY’s Community Service team’s vision is to maximize social return through consistency and impact.  No matter the size of the event, they have put their hearts into ensuring that each event attendee realizes their inner potential to make a difference in today’s society – garnering over 400 hours of volunteer service by over 120 volunteers thus far this year.

NetSAP Boston held their 4th Annual MBA Panel event for Prospective Business School Students at Hyatt Regency hotel in Cambridge on July 11th, 2009.  The goals of the event were to help attendees on creating the most competitive application possible in this tough economic climate, provide them with tips that they could apply immediately for B-school no matter where they were in the process, bolster their chances of getting into the top schools, have a discussion about the cost-benefit analysis of getting an MBA, have a forum to discuss issues related to being a MBA candidate from a minority group, and build essential contacts with admission officers and alumni from some of the top business schools across the country. The event brought together admissions Officers, alumni and a GMAT testing agency all in one place, making it a very comprehensive and extremely helpful professional development program for the prospective business school students.

On August 10th, NetIP San Diego hosted a “Design Your Future” Life Coaching Event.  This event showcased lessons from a life coach to rethink what is possible in all areas of life, including relationships, business, personal dreams, career or overall life questions. The coaching also aimed at providing access to that which is unpredictable, unknown and discontinuous with one’s past experiences.  This event was truly unique and particularly relevant in today’s environment. The event proved to be very appealing to particpants who were engaged in the highly interactive atmosphere and who hope to see similar events hosted by NetIP San Diego in the future.

Leader of the Month: Sanchet Rege (Atlanta)
Sanchit Rege currently serves as the Professional Chair for NetIP Atlanta and has been on the board for the last 2 years.  Originating from Bombay and seeking opportunities to involve himself in an organization to which he can relate, Sanchet joined the 2008 board as a webmaster for the Atlanta chapter. At the end of the 2008, he was one of the few volunteers who remained on the board and expressed interest in assuming the responsibilities of Professional Chair. In his role he has taken the lead in developing and executing events for the whole year that go beyond the traditional four pillars with unique and innovative concepts, including a Speed Dating event, a Consulting 101 in partnership with Georgia Institute of Technology, and a “Bowling for Charity” event. Through his hard work and commitment to advancing the Atlanta chapter, Sanchet has gained respect from the NetIP board members and also local community leaders. We are proud to have a committed, motivated and innovative individual on the NetIP Atlanta board!

Event of the Month: “Red-Carpet Style” Benefit (LA-OC)
LA-OC organized a highly successful community service event attracting a record-breaking 200 attendees that simulatenously celebrated the Oscar nominations of Slumdog Millionaire, brought awareness to the Akshaya Patra cause, provided a venue for networking, and showcased information on the new and improved NetIP LA-OC vision, membership benefits, and yearlong calendar of events. Featuring a red carpet theme, the event channeled the spirit and pomp of the Oscars, and allowed guests to enroll in raffles for prizes, compete in a “Best Dressed” contest to receive an Oscar, and participate in a “Who Wants to be a NetIP Millionaire?” quiz on knowledge of NetIP and the Slumdog Millionaire film. The team also had a “Recession Concession” and offered members a discounted rate at this event and online, a promotion which resulted in signing 40 new members!

Leader of the Month: Rita Dangarwala (Phoenix)
Rita has been the Secretary of NetIP Phoenix since the chapter’s founding in April 2008. One of her early accomplishments was drafting the chapter bylaws. She has also been responsible for submitting the Chapter Metrics for which Phoenix has scored the highest place every quarter, and will do so again in Q1 2009. Rita’s leadership has further been exhibited by the key role she played at the Officers Leadership Conference, keeping on top of all the easy-to-forget details such as organizing taxis and group pictures while maintaining her enthusiasm at 110% levels at all times. Event of the Month: Kick Off Week – New York Chapter
The New York chapter began the 2009 year with a unprecedented Kick-Off week that highlighted all four NetIP pillars. During the Kick-Off week, NetIP hosted successful events under different pillars including an annual launch brunch, a political awareness panel, a soup kitchen community service event, and the launch of a cultural trivia club. The Kick-Off week was a tremendous success, increasing membership over 10% versus same time last year. The quality and diversity of events reinforces the NetIP brand by furthering the image of believing in education, creating a positive environment, and achieving a unique experience for members.
