Chef Jehangir Mehta, runner up 2010 of The Next Iron Chef (Food Network) is the owner/chef of restaurants Graffiti & Mehtaphor in Manhattan, New York, the author of Mantra: Rules of Indulgence (Harper Collins) and owns an event business for private functions and weddings.

In addition, Jehangir works closely with kids to get them to love food & eat healthy through his kids’ programs: Candy Camp, Gastro Kids After School, and Kids Food Adventure with Chef Jehangir – a nationwide partnership with Whole Foods.

In the past, Jehangir worked at some of New York’s finest restaurants. He is regularly featured in national publications and seen on TV. Listen to a recent podcast here

Meet Chief Officer of Carbon War Room – Jigar Shah!

A renowned visionary, Jigar Shah is committed to renewable energy and sustainable solutions that enable prosperity beyond the carbon economy.

As CEO of the Carbon War Room, Jigar is dedicated to indentifying business-as-usual practices and replacing them with low-carbon solutions. Prior to the Carbon War Room, Jigar founded SunEdison in 2003.

Under his leadership, SunEdison revolutionized the solar industry by introducing a business model to sell solar as a service. The transformation to solar power service agreements is responsible for turning solar services into a multi-billion dollar industry.

Jigar is also an expert on energy project finance, changing energy policy, working with entrenched stakeholders, and convincing individuals to embrace energy technology. He works closely with entrepreneurs, policymakers, and investors around the world to develop, incubate, and implement sustainable solutions.

Jigar holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and an MBA from the University of Maryland. Jigar sits on the boards of the Prometheus Institute for Sustainable Development, SB NOW, and Greenpeace USA.

Meet founder of TeachAIDS!

Dr. Piya Sorcar is the founder and CEO of TeachAIDS, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has developed a breakthrough approach to HIV/AIDS prevention education. Started as her Ph.D. research project at Stanford University, and spun out as an independent nonprofit in 2009, TeachAIDS creates educational technology which solves numerous persistent problems in HIV/AIDS prevention around the world.

Today, its software is being used by governments, NGOs, and educational institutions in over 30 countries, including Botswana, China, India, South Africa, and the United States. It is supported and funded by numerous institutions, including Yahoo!, UNICEF, Barclays Bank, Time Warner, Google, and many national governments around the world.

Prior to TeachAIDS, Sorcar was a founding member of XRI Inc. (a medical and literacy media technology nonprofit), a program advisor for Stanford’s Learning, Design & Technology master’s program, and an economic research analyst with Analysis Group.

She has also been a screenplay consultant for many international award-winning children’s educational programs, and was nominated for a Regional Emmy Award for Lead Actress.

Sorcar received her Ph.D. in Learning Sciences & Technology Design and her M.A. in Education from Stanford. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a B.A. in Economics, B.S. in Journalism, and B.S. in Information Systems. She has been an invited speaker at numerous universities including Caltech, Columbia, Tsinghua, Utrecht, and Yale.

In the corporate arena, the organization announced this year’s keynote speaker to be Ali Velshi, CNN’s popular senior business correspondent, host of Your $$$$ and author of the best selling book Gimme My Money Back: Your Guide to Beating the Financial Crisis.  A veteran of financial news, Velshi recently hosted ‘The Turnaround’, CNN’s small business improvement show that introduced troubled small business owners to high-profile mentors and then helped them develop a plan for success.
